Des Indes Villa I
Villa Layout
Des Indes I is designed for relaxed Bali living, with a series of pavilions arranged around a mature tropical garden and a spectacular 21-metre lagoon pool. The layout gives groups plenty of space to come together, while also creating quieter corners for when you want time away from the crowd.
Enter across the koi pond and the villa's distinctive teak joglo takes centre stage, opening onto the garden and pool beyond. Two master bedroom pavilions sit across the lagoon, while a separate two-storey pavilion houses two guest suites.
A further pavilion contains the guest bar and butler's pantry, with the kitchen and service areas tucked discreetly behind. The result is a villa that feels expansive and connected to its surroundings, with each pavilion offering a different way to spend the day.
For groups of friends or families, this arrangement makes Des Indes I particularly easy to enjoy together. Gather around the pool, meet for sunset drinks at the bar or retreat to one of the many private corners when you want some quiet.
Living Areas
The heart of Des Indes I is its open-sided living pavilion, where a centuries-old Javanese teak joglo provides a spectacular setting for long lunches, evening drinks and unhurried conversations.
Rather than one formal living room, the pavilion offers several distinct spaces for dining and relaxing, furnished with colonial-style cane and rattan seating, oriental carpets, art and collected pieces. It is a space designed to be lived in, not simply admired. For something more sociable, head to the separate bar pavilion. With its antique details, bar seating and butler's pantry, it is perfectly placed for sunset cocktails before heading out into Seminyak for dinner or nightlife, or for ending the evening back at the villa.
The garden offers another rhythm entirely. Stretch out on the cushioned balé for an afternoon siesta, settle into one of the poolside spaces with a book or take a seat in the lagoon pool with a drink in hand. With its combination of generous communal spaces and quieter private corners, Des Indes I works particularly well for groups who enjoy spending time together but don't want to be confined to a single living space.
Bedrooms
Master suites
In each of the two master suites, on an aged teakwood floor under a vaulted pavilion ceiling, sits an oversized four-poster bed, with King Koil mattress dressed in fine cotton bedding. Antique furniture and heritage artefacts enrich every surface, along with art books, magazines, and a 37-inch satellite-channel TV. An elegant dressing area leads to an enormous air-conditioned bathroom with twin basins, bathtub, walk-in shower and garden shower. Each master has its own air-conditioned den/library, with a fascinating collection of fiction and non-fiction, and a plushly upholstered sofa that doubles as an extra bed. All three rooms (bedroom, bathroom and den) open onto a wide veranda of Palimanan stone, where a marble-topped table and cane-backed chairs, planters chairs and comfortably cushioned steamer chairs provide yet more choice for private lounging.
Guest suites
Occupying a separate two-level building are the two beautifully furnished air-conditioned (and fan-cooled) guest bedrooms – each with a four-poster bed (which can be configured as two singles in the upper level room), a window-seat that doubles as a spare bed, and colonial-style seating set before a 37-inch TV. Both rooms open onto a veranda, and also have a walk-through dressing area and ensuite bathroom (the downstairs room with alfresco shower and bathtub). The upper level bedroom has its own entrance across the koi pond, and can also be accessed from the garden bedroom; useful for families who prefer inter-connecting rooms.
